Somers, MT looks out upon the water from its perch on the northwest corner of Flathead Lake. The Somers Fishing Access site has a public swimming beach, and boat ramp offering access to water sports and lake adventures on Flathead Lake. Just east along the shoreline is the Somers Bay Yacht Club. Somers, a petite locale, does have its own hardware store, post office, school and several uniquely different restaurants offering great eating. It also boasts of some of the original homes on the north end of Flathead Lake.
Between Somers and Lakeside, along the westshore of Flathead Lake, you’ll find some sweet cherry orchards dotted between lakefront homes and condominiums like The Terraces at Somers Bay and Waterside Condominiums or the neighborhood of Mission View Terrace.
Lakeside, MT a recently expanding village, has seen much growth this past decade in residential development and businesses catering to dining and service needs in the area. Blacktail Mountain Ski area is within 20 minutes, which creates a winter destination for downhill and cross country skiing. While visiting in the area, stop by the Lakeside & Somers Chamber of Commerce office located in the West Shore Community Library in Lakeside for local information and travel guides. With a hefty private donation, the public has a new, outstanding 1.5 acre public park on Flathead Lake at Lakeside Volunteer Park.
Schools:
Lakeside and Somers make up School District 29. Children who live in either Lakeside or Somers, Montana go to Lakeside Elementary School and then Somers Middle School then on to Flathead High School in Kalispell.
Restaurants:
In the last few years, the dining in Somers and Lakeside have commanded some new attention. Looking for brunch that’ll take you through to supper? Then stop in at The Farmhouse where they use as much locally sourced ingredients as they can find. For a super popular brewpub, check out the fun atmosphere of Tamarack Brewing Company Alehouse & Grill but remember you might have to wait just a little bit to get a table, especially in the summer. For a relaxed at home feel, sit a spell at the Somers Bay Cafe. A popular spot for years (and years) is Del’s Bar in Somers where they have Bingo on Wednesday nights and outdoor fun on the patio.
